Driven by a shared spirit of sportsmanship, delegations from 11 State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) across Eastern Visayas took center stage on the second day of the 39th State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) Games, competing in a series of individual and team sports events held across various venues in Tacloban City and Palo, Leyte, April 21.
Bound by the theme “One SCUAA 8: Strengthening Unity Through Sports,” student-athletes from across the region took part in a wide range of sporting events, displaying skill and camaraderie as competitions intensified throughout the day.
Representing Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU), the Eagles competed in multiple events in the ongoing regional meet against other SUCs across various sports disciplines, recording both wins and losses.
In an interview with The Industrial Wheel, EVSU Eagle football player Clarence Batulan expressed disappointment over the team’s performance on the second day of the SCUAA-8 Games, noting that they fell short in their match.
“So disappointing, kay waray namon kaabot an expectation han amon trainors ngan coaches ngan for the first time na-eliminate an EVSU ha first round han competition,” Batulan said.

Sports competitions are set to continue from April 22 to 23, with more events expected to further highlight athletic excellence and strengthen regional unity among participating SUCs.
Meanwhile, EVSU candidates for Mr. and Ms. SCUAA-8 2026, Markus Gabriel Deluta and Krisha Kyla Cabidog, showcased their talent during the pageant’s Talent Presentation through a contemporary dance inspired by the folklore “Si Malakas at si Maganda,” highlighting strength and cultural heritage at the Leyte Normal University (LNU) Ballroom.
The coronation night is set to take place on April 23 at the LNU HRDC Alba Hall.
