SSG, student orgs launch booth fair for EVSU 22nd Charter Celebration

Setting the tone for the 22nd Charter Celebration, Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) – Main Campus formally opened the Supreme Student Government (SSG) and Organizations’ Booth Fair with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, held at the university’s Open Field, Monday, August 17.

Leading the ribbon-cutting ceremony were the Vice President for Student Internationalization and External Affairs, Dr. Benedicto Militante Jr., together with the Student Affairs and Services Office (SASO) officials, SSG officers, organization leaders, and students.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Militante highlighted the importance of unity and collaboration, welcoming the students in steering the university toward impactful academic and institutional growth.

“So in this organizational booth and fair—inspire greater unity, stronger collaboration, and more sense of belonging among us all,” Dr. Militante Stated.

He then welcomed everyone, calling for a memorable, meaningful, and impactful event, wishing the community an enjoyable time.

Meanwhile, EVSU-SSG Vice President Hon. Cedrick Porta underlined the role of EVSU students and their voices as key drivers of the university’s expanding community, also commending the student organizations for their hard work and dedication to the success of the event.

“Sustainability is not just an abstract concept, or set of rules. It is a sacred promise that the opportunities, the beauties, and the spirit of the community we cherish today, will [stay] here for generations of EVSUnistas who will walk this ground after us,” Porta said.

Moreover, student organizations and college councils across the campus transformed the field into a lively place, featuring interactive games, food stalls, and creative concept displays showcasing different academic disciplines.

During an interview, the Students Organization of Sports and Physical Education (SOSPE) President Mizpha Joy Abgao shared the initiative of their stall, which includes different physical fitness activities, in relation to their program.

“Those activities kay gin-relate namon ha amon program, which is BPEd, which is nag-i-inlcude hin different activities nga mag-e-enjoy an students,” Mizpha stated.

She then added that despite their tight schedule, their organizations felt the excitement surrounding EVSUnistas during the opening ceremony.

Additionally, sharing an early reaction to the event’s atmosphere, Selwyn Rey, a freshman from the Bachelor of Industrial Technology (BIndTech) – Major in Mechanical Technology, gave his candid experience over an interview, taking note also of the creative drive behind this year’s Charter Celebration.

“First of all, it’s overwhelming kay every hour mayda natatabo, but so far as a freshman, it’s a good experience nga aadi ako ha EVSU yana kay damo’t event and damo tim ig-e-explore, and there’s never a dead air kay makakakita ka hin creative activities everywhere,” he shared.

The ceremonial opening officially kicked off the university’s 22nd Charter Anniversary Celebration, anchored on the theme “One EVSU 2.0: Sustaining Excellence and Resiliency for Global Impact.”

The organizational booth fair will remain open throughout the Charter Celebration, hosting a series of student-led academic games, exhibitions, and community engagements across the main campus.
