Engr. Menans Aljon Bisnar Reoma took home another pride and honor for Eastern Visayas State University after notching 10th place in the recently concluded October 2022 Geodetic Licensure Examination.
Build up with experience and confidence, Engr. Reoma excellently finished the said examination with a total passing rate of 88.20 %.
The Engineer mentioned that he is already satisfied to at least pass since he already knew his mistakes after he had his examination. But with much delight, he did not only pass but was also able to join other brilliant and excellent Geodetic Engineer passers in the top 10.
“Passing would already satisfy me since I knew the mistakes I had after the exam. I was glad that I was able to achieve the top 10. The result was released around 11 PM, I couldn’t sleep until the next day,” Engr. Reoma said in an online interview.
This is not the engineer’s first tango as he already meet the crowded halls, dull walls, quiet rooms, and tense atmosphere of an engineer licensure examination when he took the November 2018 Civil Engineering Licensure Examination, and yes, he passed. He was already privately practicing Civil Engineering as a consultant for private residential projects and a couple of low-rise commercial buildings even before he became a top notcher as a Geodetic Engineer.
Yes, Engr. Reoma also has a degree in Civil Engineering. First, he finished his Civil Engineering studies at the University of San Carlos, Tambalan Campus in March 2018 and took his first licensure exam in November 2018. He then enrolled in EVSU to have his 2nd engineering degree, Geodetic Engineering, in 2019 and was able to finish it on July 2022. But despite all of these, he claimed that it doesn’t make the exam any easier.
“Having multiple degrees doesn’t make a board exam any easier. The only thing you gain is experience and then confidence,” Engr. Reoma said.
According to him, learning new things has always been a delight for him and it’s always have been a plan for him to pursue Geodetic Engineering even before he studied Civil Engineering.
“It was just the plan ever since. I just had the persistence to push through with my plans. Learning new things has always been a delight for me. The decision to take up GE was set even before I started Civil Engineering. Then, it was just a matter of pacing myself towards my goals in life,” he said.
Going much further, Engr. Reoma is planning to take Law School as his next step. According to him, he is not thinking of taking any engineering program at the time but said that if he would take another one, it would be Electrical Engineering.
“The next step would be Law School. So far, no plans for another engineering course yet. If I were to take another one in connection with my plans, it would be Electrical Engineering,” said the top notcher.
In his story of victory and success, he reminds undergraduate engineering students to embrace every lesson without question and as he points out that realization comes after experience and mastery.
“The most common challenge for undergraduate engineering students is determining the applications of every lesson taught in school. I suggest that students should embrace every lesson without questions. Realization comes after experience and mastery. Eventually, as you advance to tougher topics, the answers to your questions will come to you naturally,” he explained.
