EVSU BC goes green for Campus’ Future Plans

Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) Burauen Campus Director Dr. Eduardo Bagas addressed his plans for the development of the external campus during the ‘Day of Burauen Campus’ in line with EVSU’s 18th Charter Anniversary Celebration, August 3 at Burauen Campus, Leyte.

Dr. Bagas aims are capitalize on the campus’ agricultural development which led to its high yields for the university’s Income Generating Projects (IGPs), hoping to transform the campus into an ‘agri-tourism’ spot.

“As an agriculture campus, it is one of my vision where I hope the campus transforms into an ‘agri-tourism’ spot as we are offering Bachelor of Science in Agriculture here, leading to the production of various crops and vegetables for the IGPs,” he said in an interview.

Moreover, he expressed his gratefulness for the campus’ linkage to the Philippine Eagle Foundation in order to establish a 2-hectare arboretum inside campus property.

“The arboretum will enable us to establish a research hub that is accessible to the students and faculty who are undergoing research in agriculture and biology through our science program in the campus,” he stated.

‘Day for Burauen Campus’ Celebration

University President Dr. Dennis De Paz, through Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Lydia Morante, emphasized on the importance of the Charter Month as a means for the university to move forward together during the opening program of Day for Buraen Campus.

“On this momentous occasion, we direct our focus and priorities for new beginnings, to new horizons that will drive us to re-engineer and re-calibrate our developmental goals, mission and vision, and our core values under the principle of responsiveness, inclusiveness, impartiality, and equity,” she said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Bagas commented on the importance of the Charter Anniversary Celebration for the entire EVSU province-wide system.

“It is one way of taking responsibility for every external campus that the objective of the university is one, as partners of the whole system,” he stated.

He also added that it is necessary to see what the external campuses are doing for the betterment of the whole university.

“It is also in order to showcase what the external campuses are doing, not only in curriculum development, instruction, and research but also in events and activities, like the observance of the Charter Month celebration,” he said.

In line with the Charter Anniversary celebration, each external campuses will have its respective celebrations in separate schedules during the month-long event.
