302 Quarry fire victims receive cash assistance

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tacloban and the Tingog Party-list, through the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD), provided financial assistance to the students and families affected by the recent fire incident in Barangay Quarry, Wednesday, September 13.

Fe Chona A. Bahin, CSWD Officer, confirmed a total of 302 individuals, 26 families by which 3 household were partially damaged, were displaced by the fire incident.

Bahin said that the boarder, sharer, and worker victims will receive P5,000 and P10,000 for house owners from Tingog Party-list and the LGU of Tacloban.

Moreover, Bahin expressed that the Social Workers Team consoled the victims by providing them comfort and performed some psychosocial activities as they were professionally trained.

“As Social Workers, trained kami on psychological first aid. So, nag aano gihap kamin comfort giving, kun ano pa iton nga psychosocial activities nga amon pwede mahatag ha ira,” Bahin said.

Meanwhile, Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Martin Romualdez visited the evacuees and extended his sympathy to the victims of the incident.

“I really am sorry for what happened but I’m doing everything para makabangon kayo. Make this part of your life as a lesson and a wake up call to prepare and be careful,” Mayor Romualdez said.

Further, the city mayor also stated that there will be assistance coming Senator Imee Marcos.
