851 SAS, SED graduates conferred degrees in EVSU commencement rites Day 1

Marking the culmination of the academic journey of Batch Elevare 2026, Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) formally opened the first day of its 104th Commencement Exercises for graduates of the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) and the School of Education (SED) at the Leyte Convention Center, Thursday, June 25.

A total of 851 graduates, comprising 283 from SAS and 568 from SED, were conferred their respective degrees after successfully completing the requirements of their academic programs.

During the ceremony, university officials, faculty members, parents, and graduates gathered as the candidates were formally presented for graduation.

As commencement speaker, Dr. Maximo C. Aljibe, Director IV of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office VIII, encouraged the graduates to embrace lifelong learning, remain adaptable amid change, and use their education to contribute meaningfully to society.

“You are the next generation of professionals, innovators, and leaders who will shape the future of our communities. Whether you choose to serve within the region or beyond it, remember where you came from and the values that have defined our people,” Aljibe said.

In his message, University President Dr. Dennis C. de Paz commended Batch 2026 for reaching a significant milestone marked by academic growth, perseverance, and commitment to excellence.

“The world is in dire need of nurturing leaders, visionary thinkers, and empowered citizens who can make a difference and improve the lives of others. Carry with you the institution’s values and teachings and you will surely go far and beyond,” said de Paz.

The formal confirmation of graduation was presided over by Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) Dr. Benedicto T. Militante Jr., which was then followed by the awarding of diplomas to the graduates.

The commencement program also featured the recognition of outstanding scholars of Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI), Tingog Award, and Manny Villar Award.

Subsequently, the graduates were inducted into the Federation of Alumni Associations of Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU-FAA), formally welcoming them into the university’s growing network of alumni.

The second day of the commencement exercises will feature graduates from the School of Accountancy, Management and Entrepreneurship (SAME) and the School of Technology (SOT) during the morning session, followed by graduates from the School of Architecture and Allied Disciplines (SAAD) and the School of Engineering (SOE) in the afternoon.
