
Eastern Visayas State University-Main Campus ushered in the holiday season to its campus grounds with the lighting of the vibrant Christmas displays in front of the Administration Building, Tuesday evening, November 26.
Dubbed ‘KISLAP: EVSU Christmas Village Lighting Ceremony & Fireworks Display 2024’, the event featured the grand opening of the university’s Christmas-themed decor, complemented by various student performances and interactive activities.
Amid the dazzling lights, University President Dr. Dennis C. De Paz, joined with EVSU key officials, staff, and students, led the lighting ceremony.
In his Christmas message, Dr. de Paz emphasized the essence of ‘Kislap’ not just in the institution but also the sparkling spirits of the essence of Christmas.
“Let Kislap illuminate not only our ceremonies here at our university, but also in our spirits, inspiring us to carry the true essence of Christmas.”
Following the fervor, the annual countdown to light up the Christmas Village took place, followed by the launch of EVSU’s 2024 Christmas Station ID, “Lamrag han Pasko ha EVSU” performed by the EVSU Chorale.
Meanwhile, BS Industrial Engineering freshman Lesharie Badaran shared her first-time experiences witnessing the annual event.
“Diri ko gine-expect na sugad ngayan ka-enjoyable ngan karisyo an Christmas Lighting ha EVSU kay first time ko maka-experience hin sugad na opening, lab-i na han lights ngan fireworks,” Badaran expressed.
The KISLAP festivities will continue throughout the holiday season, with the Christmas Village enriching the yuletide spirit for EVSUnistas.
KISLAP ended with a grand four-minute fireworks display lighting up the night sky.
