A significant milestone was reached by the Class of 2025 of Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) as the university concluded its 103rd Commencement Exercises on June 18 at the Leyte Academic Center (LAC) in Palo, Leyte, marking the culmination of years of academic dedication and perseverance for its newest alumni, Wednesday, June 18.

Capping the two-day celebration, graduates from Batch Luminara of the College of Education (COED) and College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) formally concluded their academic journey, stepping into the real world equipped with knowledge, resilience, and the values that reflect EVSU’s legacy of excellence.

During her commencement address, Dr. Sherlita A. Palma, EdD, CESO VI, offered heartfelt reflections on the journey of life, encouraging the graduates to embrace imperfections as a path to growth.

“Perfection is just a myth, for example, we mess up and we say things we don’t mean. We make wrong choices, but we rise, we reflect, we grow stronger, we keep going—life is about progress, not perfection,” Dr. Palma shared.

“Life isn’t about being flawless, it’s about growth and courage to keep moving forward,” she added, before congratulating the batch.

Meanwhile, COED Magna Cum Laude John Ivan Lantajo expressed his gratitude and shared how he intends to carry his academic experience into the future.

“Graduating is one of the most momentous events in my life. All the knowledge I’ve gained—I’ll make sure to apply it, to impart it to others, and to inspire them as well,” he said.

“I also want to thank my family, friends, relatives, professors, and classmates—and most of all, God—because without Him, none of this would have been possible for all of us.”

The afternoon rites also marked the conclusion of EVSU’s two-day 103rd Commencement Exercises, closing a memorable chapter for the Class of 2025 as they now step forward to begin new journeys beyond the university.
