As Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) – Main Campus opened its 21st Charter Anniversary Celebration, University President Dr. Dennis de Paz delivered his opening remarks through a recorded video message on Wednesday, August 27, as he was unable to attend the ceremony in person due to official commitments.

In his message, Dr. de Paz underscored the essence of “One EVSU,” emphasizing unity and collective progress as the university continues to strive for excellence, resilience, and proactive efforts in addressing climate change.

“This is the true spirit of One EVSU: a university that moves forward, hand in hand, toward a future of excellence, resiliency, and climate action,” he said.

The President also reflected on how EVSU has paved the way for transformative initiatives in line with its vision of becoming a National University for Resilience and Climate Action (NURCA) through its flagship program “One EVSU 2.0,” and highlighted its significance, particularly its impact on future generations.

“EVSU as NURCA is our bold commitment to build knowledge, innovation, and community action to protect lives, safeguard our environment, and secure the future for the next generations,” stressed by the University President.

Moreover, Dr. de Paz affirmed that while differences in views and roles may exist within the academic community, it is unity that ultimately connects and empowers people to turn aspirations into achievements and obstacles into strengths.

“That is what we must always remember: that beyond our differences in opinions and positions, it is unity that binds us together. Unity is what transforms our dreams into realities, our challenges into opportunities, and our resilience into strength,” Dr. de Paz added.

His message concluded with a call to embody the true spirit of One EVSU by collectively moving forward toward an innovative and resilient future.

The university’s 21st Charter Anniversary Celebration is anchored on the theme “One EVSU 2.0: Stronger Together for Resiliency and Climate Action” and will run from August 27 to September 5.
