Univ conducts Medical and Dental Fair, promotes healthy student community

To promote a healthy Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) community by offering free health consultation to students, faculty members, and key officials, the University Medical and Dental Office conducted a Dental and Medical Fair at the Administration Building Lobby, February 19.

The activity, which envisions a service-driven institution, is in connection with the university’s 117th Founding Anniversary Celebration, anchored on the theme, ‘One EVSU towards a SMART University.’

University Nurse II Marimel Bahin emphasized the significance of the fair in advocating a healthy lifestyle among EVSUnistas by providing awareness and understanding. 

“The purpose of this activity is to help the EVSU community, to have their baseline data regarding their blood sugar, blood type, and also blood pressure in order for them to have awareness,” she underscored.

Moreover, Dental Team Administrative Aide IV Ma. Luz Petallana shed light on the preparations undertaken for the fair to be possible. 

“We have prepared through enlisting and scheduling student and university personnel for the dental services offered,“ she elaborated.

Meanwhile, Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering (BSECE) Alexa Camaya shared her perspective on the event’s significance to those who have availed the service. 

“Syahan makulba kay tutusok ka dagom pero okay la kay masasabtan mo man imo blood type ngan sugar. Okay po inin na activity kay mas magiging aware kita na students, labi na kay mababaruan imo health maupay or need nimo magpaconsult,” she said. 

The fair offered a range of health-related services, including free random blood sugar testing, blood typing, and blood pressure assessments administered by the medical team. 

Additionally, dental services encompassed tooth extraction, oral prophylaxis, cavity filling, and oral consultations, catering to the diverse health needs of the EVSU community.
