Eastern Visayas State University Burauen Campus, in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry – Negosyo Center – Burauen, invited local medium, small, and micro enterprises (MSMEs) in a one-day university trade fair during the Day for Burauen Campus in line with the university’s 18th Charter Anniversary.
Student entrepreneurs from the campus and local MSMEs from different municipalities like Tabon-Tabon, Julita, and Dagami joined the said trade fair to sell and promote their products and services.
According to Melchor A. Salto, DTI – Negosyo Center – Burauen Coordinator, the purpose of the event is to highlight and promote the products of each municipality.
“The very purpose of this event is to benchmark MSMEs from other municipalities on how they package their products and how they label it. It is also one way of having this idea that their products might be improvised,” Mr. Salto said.
He further explained that the said trade fair is a way for the traders to build connections which they can utilize for the improvement of their production and marketing strategies.
“It is also one way of building connections from other MSMEs and municipalities in which they can ask suggestions or ideas as to how they will be able to improve their products and services in the trade fair,” he added.
Moreover, Salto pointed out that although this trade fair is a good avenue, it lacks the capacity to extend local MSMEs market range.
“As of now, maybe what’s lacking in the trade fair is actually expanding their market range. You will not only invite them to display their products but we will also help them expand their market,” he suggested
The trade fair was visited by Burauen Campus Director Dr. Eduardo Bagas together with Burauen Vice Mayor Hon. Noel Alpino and other EVSU key officials from different campuses.
