Honoring the academic and co-curricular achievements of Batch Luminara, Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) – Main Campus held its 103rd University Recognition Rites on Tuesday, June 17, at the Leyte Academic Center (LAC) in Palo, Leyte.

The ceremony recognized the achievements, dedication, and contributions of this year’s graduating class throughout their academic journey. Graduates were awarded for their outstanding performance in academics, including Latin Honors and Special Awards.

Additionally, co-curricular distinctions were conferred, such as the 2025 EVSU Most Outstanding Student and Organization, Leadership Award, Academic Excellence, Loyalty Award, Campus Journalist of the Year, Cultural and Arts Performance Awards, Sports and Development Awards, Batang Agila Awards, YMCA Awards, and the Pacific Union Insurance Company Scholarship Award.

In his congratulatory message, University President Dr. Dennis C. De Paz encouraged the awardees to maximize the skills and learnings they gained at the institution as they face the challenges beyond the walls of the university.

“The knowledge, skills, and experiences you’ve gained at EVSU are invaluable tools to face the world. Use them wisely. Use them for good. Use them with purpose,” the University President said.

In her welcome remarks, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Lydia M. Morante delivered an insightful message, highlighting the graduates’ positive values as a foundation for their future success.

“To the graduates, as you embark on this new journey, remember that every success is measured by the positive impact you create. Choose a path of purpose and be grounded in your values,” Dr. Morante asserted.

Meanwhile, Batch Valedictorian and Magna Cum Laude awardee Daphnie N. Costa, a graduate of the Bachelor of Arts in English Language (BAEL), shared how she envisions using the recognition she received to propel herself forward.

“As I continue in my career or pursue further studies, I see this not just as a personal achievement but as a responsibility — a reminder to stay grounded, to keep learning, and to give back. I hope that in some way, this recognition can inspire fellow EVSUnistas and future graduates to stay committed to their passions and values,” Costa shared.

The recognition ceremony stands as a testament to the capabilities and potential of EVSUnistas, setting a benchmark for future graduates to aspire to academic and holistic excellence.
