After the arduous Phases 1 and 2 of the search, Ms. Meraflor O. Pecore, from the College of Arts and Sciences, stood out from the other 10 finalists as she was hailed as the Most Outstanding Student 2024 (MOS) of the university at the Miguel Romualdez Memorial Auditorium, May 15.

Ms. Mary Joy Gorre and Ms. Merriel N. Pamanian, both from the College of Business and Entrepreneurship, were hailed as the first and second runners up of the search, respectively.

During the Phase 1 of the contention held last May 9, the student-finalists’ achievements and contributions were reviewed by a panel of evaluators coming from the different colleges, where 11 excellent students were chosen to advance to the next and final phase.

After the 11 finalists have been decided, the talents and wits of these students were put to test during the Talent and Question and Answer Portion, composing the second and last phase of the competition.

In an interview, Ms. Pecore felt much gratitude and satisfaction for her accomplishments during this event.

“Actually, I am really so happy and so proud of myself because after all the hard work that I offered for myself for how many years preparing for this search, it already paid off. Everything feels surreal, but I know from the bottom of my heart, all of my hard work is worth it,” Ms. Pecore said.

Meanwhile, despite not winning the award, Ms. Merriel Pamanian shared that it took much courage to participate in this kind of event.

“You have to show up despite whatever you are feeling, so I showed up scared. When I went upstage, I think what helped me was that so many people believed so much in me that I started believing in myself too,” Ms. Pamanian voiced.

The Search for the Most Outstanding Student of the university serves as an encouragement and motivation for the student body to work hard and thrive for success and accomplishments.
