EVSU celebrates years of legacy, commitments anew for its 118th Founding Anniv

Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) marked its 118th Founding Anniversary today, February 17, centered on its reinforced core values Excellence, Virtue, Service, and Unity at the Miguel Romualde Memorial Auditorium.

Anchored on the theme “OneEVSU@118: Building Futures Through SMART Innovation,” the celebration began with a traditional flag-raising ceremony, motorcade, and Thanksgiving Mass attended by the university president, key officials, faculty, staff, and students.

The event formally commenced with the Opening Program, presided over by the university president, highlighting EVSU’s legacy in shaping an institution that continuously innovates to become a globally competitive campus.

In his message, “Shaping the Future Together,” Dr. De Paz emphasized the institution’s journey and its commitment to becoming an effective and efficient academic institution over time.

“EVSU is not just keeping up with the times; we are setting a higher benchmark for excellence in education, research and service,” quoted Dr. de Paz.

As part of the celebration, the Blood Donation Drive was also launched, along with the Medical and Dental Fair hosted by the Student Affairs and Services Office (SASO) and the Medical and Dental Office.

Additionally, the Kadiwa Trade Fair and Student Organizational Booth Fair opened as part of the first day’s festivities.

Meanwhile, Charlie Alaban, a sophomore student from the Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (BSED), anticipates a lively and exciting week-long celebration despite the unpredictable weather.

“I look forward to having an enjoyable and unforgettable experience sa mga booths and of course, I am also excited to experience the events prepared by the university despite na nag-iinuran,” Alaban shared to The Industrial Wheel.

Moreover, in line with this year’s theme, Alaban is also hopeful for the completion of the SMART campus program, believing that this initiative will have a significant impact on improving the university’s learning system.

Day one of the celebration will conclude with SINAGTALA: Honoring the Brightest Stars, an event recognizing and celebrating the achievements of EVSUnista board topnotchers in recent years.
