Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) in partnership with the Social Security System (SSS) conducted a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony and an orientation on SSS programs held at the Miguel Romualdez Memorial Auditorium, on Wednesday, September 27.

The event aimed to highlight the importance and benefits of SSS membership as it provides pension funds for workers from retirement and disability benefits to survivors and maternity.

In his welcome remarks, Dr. Danilo B. Pulma, Vice President for Internationalization and External Affairs gave his words of appreciation after a successful collaboration with the said agency.

“I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our new partner, the Social Security System (SSS) for their support and dedication in working with us. We are grateful for their expertise and commitment during this partnership,” Mr. Pulma stressed.

In addition, he also emphasized that strong values and a brighter start for all employees create a more secured future not only for the university but for all the individuals.

Moreover, Lilibeth A. Cajucom, M. D, SSS Tacloban Branch Head expressed in her message the appreciation she have towards the conduct of the momentous occasion and the will of the institution to improve the lives of its people.

“On behalf of SSS Tacloban, I would like to express our wholehearted support to the administration of the Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) in their commitment to improving the lives of their job order workers as well as strengthening social security in our country specifically in Region 8,” Ms. Cajucom said.

The MOA signing was also attended by the Vice President of Visayas II, Mario V. Corro and provided an outline of the KaSSSangga Program about the privileges of various benefits depending upon the needs and qualifications of the members.

Meanwhile, Dr. Dennis C. De Paz, University President, conveyed his words of gratitude as the program gave a vital step in improving the lives of the non-teaching personnel.

“I express my sincerest gratitude to the leadership of SSS just to be with us to show their support that indeed SSS is serious about this partnership. This is again for our COS opportunity to be better and to serve better and stronger to our dear Eastern Visayas State University,” the president expressed.

Further, Mr. Chrestian C. Jaca, Senior Analyst, served as the main resource speaker of the said event through his in-depth discussion dubbed ‘KNOW YOUR SSS: An Overview of SSS Membership and Its Benefits.’

The event ended with an awarding of certificates to the Contract-of-Service (COS) employees, regional officials, directors, and distinguished guests who attended the said activity.
