To orient third year Economics students with the necessary pre-requisites before their actual deployment on their On-the-Job Training (OJT), Eastern Visayas State University, Economics Department held its first ever pinning ceremony with a theme, “Navigating on New Ventures: Forging Paths to Success,” on June 9 at the EVSU ORDEx Training Room.

Instructor Raffie Semeniano emphasized in his welcome remarks the significance of holding the pinning ceremony as it would prepare incoming interns for their deployment to their respective agencies.

“May this pinning ceremony inspire our interns in their OJT journey, embody the spirit of a true ekonomista and make your department proud,” Instructor Semeniano said.

Further, Head of Economics Department Prof. Carmelita C. Doming delivered an orientation for Internship that highlighted the necessary skills, theoretical knowledge, and practical application that are needed while working in a specific job role or position on their assigned agency.

Moreover, Karyle Angelica S. Villejo a fourth-year student who had already finished their internship, narrated her experiences during their time as interns.

“During the time of my internship, it really opened my eyes to different things, I have met different kinds of people and learned how to deal with them,” Villejo said.

Meanwhile, another testimonial experience was recounted by an alumna of the department, Leana Jean P. Adic where she shared advice with the incoming interns.

“During the span of your internship, you will learn invaluable lessons in communication, teamwork, and adaptability, which will help you develop and improve yourselves professionally and personally,” Adic said.

Said event was attended by third year Economics students, parents, and faculty of the department and was organized by the EVSU Association of Students in Economics (EASE).

The interns of the Department of Economics will be deployed to their respective agencies this coming June 26.
