EVSU ignites the spark of innovation, conducts webinar for educational excellence

With the vision of honing the students in becoming a SMART innovator, Eastern Visayas State University conducts the ‘Shaping the Future: Driving Educational Excellence Through SMART Innovation’ webinar on Monday, February 17.

Said webinar aims to explore innovative strategies and technologies in education to empower educators, enhance learning, and drive academic excellence.

In his opening remarks, University President Dr. Dennis C. De Paz shared that the said event will train the students and faculty in adapting the modern world through education.

“Leveraging the power of SMART Innovation ensures that we equipped students and faculty with the skills and knowledge to thrive in the rapidly evolving world,” Dr. de Paz remarked.

The president also expressed that the school was privileged to be joined by distinguished experts in giving insights on the right perspective and tools in strengthening the academic institution.

Moreover, the Head Business Incubator of BINUS University in Bandung, Indonesia, Puji Prabowo started the session with his talk on ‘Transforming Ideas into Impact: SMART Strategies for Student Business Sucess’ where he highlighted the importance of the Incubator’s support in business helps the students in having a mentorship and guidance in business.

Dr. Diena D. Tjiptadi, the Head of Program Business Management in BINUS University, tackled the role of technology in increasing engagement and the Executive Director of Resilient City Development Association, Vanessa Yin Ling discussed the innovation in food and nutrition technology.

Lucrecio Delgado Jr., the Regional Director for Southeast Asian Wadhwani Foundation, shared his expertise on how Technopreneurship enables a successful Entrepreneurship and Innovation, making students solve local problems, increases the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country, and create jobs for themselves.

During the open forum of the webinar, Delgado emphasized the solution to the ever-changing world that people are currently living in.

“We need to work with academic institutions and government agencies to go out in their comfort zones,” Delgado expressed.

He further challenges the students to improve their thinking skills in breaking the traditional culture in the business world.

Meanwhile, the Vice President for Internalization and External Affairs Dr. Danilo B. Pulma expressed his gratitude to the four resource speakers of the said event.

“Your contributions have cultivated the path toward smart innovation in education. Inspiring us to embrace sustainable, modernized, accessible, responsive, and transformative process to learning and development,” he said.

VP Pulma added that the engagement of the students and faculty is a testament to the University’s Spirit–one that thrives knowledge, collaboration, and commitment to excellence.

The event was a part EVSU’s 118th Founding Anniversary, with the theme “Building Futures through SMART Innovation,” with different lineup of activities awaits for the EVSUnistas.
