EVSU-SSG reopens special polls to fill vacant legislative posts

To fill the remaining vacant seats in the Legislative Body of the Supreme Student Government (SSG) for Academic Year 2025–2026, the Student Affairs and Services Office (SASO) officially opened the filing of candidacy for a new round of special elections on Monday, March 2.

Despite the conduct of the SSG Special Elections last January 30-31, several legislative positions remain unfilled, prompting the need for another electoral process to complete the council’s composition.

The filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COC) runs from March 2 to March 6, while the campaign period is scheduled from March 9 to 11. Voting will be held online via Google Forms on March 13 to ensure accessibility and encourage wider student participation.

In a statement, the SSG called on qualified and aspiring student leaders to take part in the special elections and actively contribute to student governance.

“We encourage all qualified and aspiring student leaders to take this opportunity to step forward and serve the student body with integrity, dedication, and purpose,” the SSG said.

The vacant posts include two senator positions each for the School of Engineering (SOE), School of Technology (SOT), and School of Accountancy, Management, and Entrepreneurship (SAME), as well as one representative per program to ensure sectoral and college-level representation within the legislative council.

Furthermore, the student council positions remain vacant for the representative of the Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education (BCAEd) from the School of Education (SED), eight program representatives from the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS), and two program representatives from the School of Architecture and Allied Disciplines (SAAD).

Interested candidates may submit their requirements within the designated filing period, including the COC, Certificate of Registration, Certificate of Grades, Good Moral Certificate, and a 2×2 ID picture, to the Electoral Tribunal at the SASO.

Moreover, SASO assured that all procedures will be carried out in accordance with existing university policies and election guidelines to ensure transparency, fairness, and integrity throughout the electoral process.
