To prime BS Electrical Engineering students about their engineering journey, the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. – Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) Student Chapter spearheaded the conduct of a face-to-face General Assembly, Wednesday, September 28 at the Miguel Romualdez Memorial Auditorium.
Present at the event were the program’s students and the organization’s officers, who took their oath as a show of commitment to the organization.
During the event, Electrical Engineering Department Head, Dr. Vinyl H. Oquiño shared his Words Of Testimony on how to navigate your way around the course.
“Engineering is not difficult. We don’t need to survive but what we only need is to continue,” the department head asserted.
Dr. Oquiño also claimed that his secret in surviving engineering was having the right attitude.
“My secret in surviving engineering was merely the right attitude. Right attitude to answering problems especially schoolworks, to instructors, towards classmates, and towards the rules and regulations,” he claimed.
Moreover, Engr. Jay Gabriel Jimenez also shed light on the objectives and general requirements of On-The-Job Trainings during his discussion.
“OJT is a practical approach, acquiring the competencies and skills needed for a job in the real working environment,” said Engr. Jimenez.
Meanwhile, IIEE EVSU – SC President, Krishia Hinacay said that the event was also a way to make amendments of the constitution and by-laws of the department.
“The amendment of constitution and by-laws is expected every year based on the suggestions of the students because it is not only the officers who will decide. Electrical Engineering students needed to have just and fair discretion,” Hinacay explained.
Venz Marc Casas, a 2nd year Electrical Engineering student, said that, while it helped him learn about the organization’s rules and regulations, he said it was informative and entertaining.
“The event was insightful and it was fun because we had the chance to interact with other year levels as well as the freshmen,” he said.
During the program, IIEE EVSU-SC officers also presented their Financial Report and the activities to be anticipated by the department.
