I happen to memorize her voice,
First thing in the morning.
Just as I was about to reach for a glass of cold water,
There is a yellow sticky note on the table
Reminding me of an old habit,
Start the day with a warm sip of coffee
I happen to memorize her voice,
While waiting for a cab late at night.
I stand in a well-lighted spot,
Bag back in front.
When a cab finally arrive,
I whispered a little prayer for a safe ride
I happen to memorize her voice,
During a dark blue night.
There are deadly lullabies from the wall
And dark figures at the window.
But it all suddenly disappears
Just by a calming memory of home
I happen to memorize her voice.
All her teachings and wisdom.
Her tiniest reminders.
I carry it with me along the road
Keeping me safe
A clear reminder of her love
