With heads held high and ambitions burning bright, graduates from Eastern Visayas State University’s (EVSU) College of Engineering (COE) and College of Architecture and Allied Discipline (CAAD) proudly tossed their caps, marking the successful opening of Day 1 of the university’s 103rd Commencement Exercises on June 17 at the Leyte Academic Center, Palo, Leyte.
The University President confirmed a total of 581 graduates—497 from COE and 84 from CAAD—upon the recommendation of their respective college deans. Each was awarded their degrees and diplomas in recognition of their academic achievement.
In his Commencement Address, Weather Services Chief of the National Capital Region – Public Relations and Special Division (NCR-PRSD), Engr. Lorenzo A. Moron, emphasized the importance of public service and its impact on society.
“As you carry the torch of excellence gained from this university, continue to build a good reputation as you drive positive change and meaningful impacts in our community,” said Engr. Moron.
He further reminded graduates to remain guided by strong principles as they pursue success, especially in a rapidly evolving world.
In addition, the Medal of Excellence for Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) Scholars was awarded to outstanding scholar-graduates, led by Dr. John Gleenn D. Ocaña, Regional Director of DOST Region VIII.
Day 2 of the ceremony will feature graduates from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and the College of Business and Entrepreneurship (COBE) in the morning session, followed by graduates from the College of Education (COED) and the College of Technology (COT) in the afternoon.
