Eastern Visayas State University-Tanauan Campus (EVSU-TC) Dance Group remains undefeated after finishing Gold once again in the Hip-Hop dance competition during the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC-8) Regional Culture and Arts Festival 2023, October 19, at Visayas State University (VSU) Research, Development, and Extension (RDE) Hall.

Bearing the title of winning the previous hip-hop competition in the culture and arts festival during the State Universities and Colleges Athletic Association (SCUAA) Meet 2022, the EVSU-TC Dance Group carries a sophisticated pressure of defending the gold against contenders from other state universities and colleges in the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) Regional Culture and Arts Festival 2023.

Despite the nerve-wracking expectations, the performers did not take it negatively and rather turned this into an inspiration and motivation to vie for victory.

According to Paul Prisno, the assistant coach of the EVSU-TC Dance Group, their title as champions in the previous hip-hop dance competition fueled their inspiration to aim for the gold.

“Actually, an amon gin dadara while na perform is an amon title nga madefend namon. (Actually, we were carrying with us [the eagerness] to defend our title.),” coach Prisno shared.

Dancing to the beat of ‘Hataw’ by Gary Valenciano, the EVSU-TC Dance Group stepped up and beat other contenders with a more powerful and strategic groove.

“Nagbago kami hin style ha choreography, lackings, popping, and an amon style is more on groove. (We changed our style in choreography, lackings, popping, and our style is more on groove.),” said coach Prisno.

While they bring with them the passion of dancing, it would always be with the ultimate goal of breaking a leg on the national stage.

“Nagdaog kami han amon determination, an amon goal nga maka national PASUC kami. (We won because of our determination, our goal to enter the national PASUC.),” he added.

With that, their dream came true as the EVSU-TC Dance Group is set to represent the region in the National PASUC.
