
Various events happened throughout the university campus today, August 24, as Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) simultaneously held its Day for Supreme Student Government (SSG) – Federation of Student Government (FSG) and other Campus Organization and Kadiwa Trade Fair.
The aforementioned events were held in celebration of the university’s 18th Charter Anniversary anchored on the theme ‘One EVSU: Forward, Together, a month-long series of events and festivities participated by the university’s stakeholders and community.
Day for FSG-SSG and other campus organizations
Booths from different campus organizations were present at the school ground as the university held its ‘Day for SSG-FSG and other Campus Organizations’ organized through the collaboration of the Supreme Student Government, the Federation of Student Government, and other academic organizations in the university.
Mr. Orlando de Paz, Supreme Student Government President, said that the event is special as there are activities that help showcase the skills of the students.
“This event is very special as there are activities that help showcase the skills and talents, especially the innovation of the students, and it also helps with the stress that students have. In that sense, it motivates the student to strive harder and study more,” the SSG President said.
Mr. Raffy Baco, President of the EVSU Gender and Development – Youth Coordinators (GADYC), one of the school organizations present at the event, said that they can further forward their advocacies while promoting the organization to encourage students to be members of GADYC.
“Our goal is to promote gender inclusivity inside and outside the organization. GADYC aims to amplify the voices of students who are victims of gender-related violence and discrimination,” Mr. Baco said.
Kadiwa Trade and Fair
The university, in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Agriculture (DA), and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) held the Kadiwa Trade Fair ’22 organized by the Director for Internationalization Prof. Faustito Aure.
Local farmers and producers from the city of Tacloban and other municipalities participated in the said Kadiwa Trade Fair, supervised by the City Agriculturist and other government agencies partnered with the event.
Mr. Aure said that the Kadiwa Trade Fair recognizes and acknowledges local farmers in the city and other municipalities, as well as provides and assists them with the necessary marketing assistance.
“We are holding the Kadiwa Trade Fair to give them a platform where they can sell and promote their products, as well as let people know Trade Fairs as this exist to help local farmers and producers to market their product,” the
Director for Internationalization said.
Rhodora Vallez, a producer who participated in the fair, expressed her gratitude that, through the event, she is able to sell her products directly to customers and is looking forward to next year’s fair.
“We are grateful for the Trade Fair as we can sell our own products to the customers rather than through a trader,” she emphasized.
