EVSU launches Internet Service for Campus Innovation

Director of Information and Communication Technology, Prof. Jude Allan A. Urmeneta introduced the Phase 2 Upgrading System of the internet during the soft launching of the Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) Campus Wi-Fi Project held at EVSU inner court, today.

The introduction of the university WiFi during the event aimed to lessen the burden of the students, faculty, and clients in internet connectivity, particularly concerning its speed.

Director Urmeneta, who organized the said soft launching, said that this kind of activity is a long-time project of EVSU, and was implemented to create an effective internet connection in the whole university in preparation for the upcoming opening of classes.

“By the end of August 22, before the start of classes, we will assure that all of the access points are fully functional,” Urmeneta added.

Moreover, Veinmar S. Ogrimen, head of the Systems Development Office (SDO) who initiated the software for the campus Wi-Fi project, added that he created the said project with the help of contractors who are working with the university.

“I created an interface for the student and employee portals. Contractors helped me with this and from time to time I consult with them to come up with a secure system,” Ogrimen stressed.

In attendance of the soft launching of the Wi-Fi Project were the different university officials, faculty, and students.
