EVSU lauds research and extension stakeholders on VPRDExS Day

Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) expressed “valuing partnerships with stakeholders through synergistic research, innovation, and extension” through the Office of the Research & Development and Extension Services (ORDExS) day held at the Auditorium today, August 18.

Invited to the event were various Local Government Units (LGUs) from different municipalities and cities in Leyte, different government agencies allied with the university’s extension programs, and stakeholders who received tokens and awards in recognition of their contribution to the university.

Among these government agencies are the Commission on Higher Election (CHED), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Department of Trade and Industies (DTI), and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Dr. Analyn Españo, Vice President for Research & Development and Extension Services, exclaimed that the university has outdone itself in maintaining linkages to make favorable outcomes which caters better to the community.

“We once again have proven our unity that runs in the artery of our mission. And indeed, EVSU is a growing community because we are not just able to sustain our linkages but for a value-added cause to make outcomes more relevant to the society and people we serve,” Dr. Espano said during her opening speech during the ORDExS Day.

Moreover, the vice president expressed her desire that, through the event, stakeholders of the university would take big strides in the inclusion of Research & Development and Extension endeavors assisted through the agencies that are partnered with EVSU.

“From the strong support accorded to EVSU, specifically on R&D and Extension services, this is my appeal to EVSU-nistas, we must be compelled to take frog leaps so as to assimilate and integrate R&D and Extension endeavors into our university life,” she emphasized.

Furthermore, Dr. Dennis C. de Paz, University President, articulated his hopefulness that the event today would be a means to further establish meaningful partnerships that will be beneficial to the development of EVSU and its campuses.

“It is my hope that today’s milestones will yield sustainable partnerships that will eventually contribute to the achievement of the goals of each college, campus, and the university in general,” Dr. de Paz said.

Research Exhibit

In line with the conduct of the ORDExS Day, research and dissertations were exhibited and subsequently recognized during the Awarding of Best Papers during the program.

Dr. Dennis C. De Paz expressed the importance of academic documents as they make the benefits of the university’s extension programs and activities evident.

“Let us all ensure that documentary evidence is in place to show the solid impact and the effective implementation of our extension activities in the community and University for our program and institutional accreditation,” he exclaimed.

The ‘A Day for the Vice President for Research & Development and Extension Services’ is a part of a series of events dedicated to the Vice Presidents of the university in the observance of the 18th Charter Anniversary Celebration, a month-long series of festivities that officially kicked off last August 15.
