Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) holds a day for teachers in celebration of the World Teachers’ Day, at the Miguel Romualdez Memorial Auditorium, today, October 6.

The event kicked off with a grand entrance of the university teaching force; Contract of Service Employees, Regular Faculty Members, Heads, Deans, Directors, Vice-Presidents, and University President.

University President Dr. Dennis C. De Paz officially opened the teacher’s day celebration, with a message of gratitude to the students who made an effort in reminding them of the significant value of their teachers in their lives.

“Thank you for letting us feel that we are truly part of your daily lives here in the university,” the university president said.

Dr. De Paz also reminded the university faculty members that their efforts are immeasurable, and no words nor gifts could suffice to thank them; but their students’ achievement is worth the sincerest gratitude.

“Undeniably, no words of gratitude can repay your great works, but to see your students proud and successful in their chosen career or profession is more than any gifts you could ever receive,” he added.

Meanwhile, the event displayed presentations from different campus organizations and students’ tokens of appreciation to their respective teachers hailing from various colleges.

For students, their presentations and tokens were just a small gesture to give back to their teachers.

“Looking to the support and love that our college is giving to us, this motivates us to give back and in a little way, little token of appreciation, we can repay their love and support,” said Russel May Anghay Samaro, a student from College of Business and Entrepreneurship (COBE)

Additionally, Elielle Jeed Labana of Bachelor of Science in Architecture, inspired the teachers with her token of appreciation entitled “Clean Intent” – an acrylic painting on the canvas of a child picking up trash on the beach.

According to her, the inspiration of the art was the relevance of the child and teachers having similarities of offering pure intentions that can be life changing.

“The same with the child’s intention to help the environment, teachers also have the intention to help their students grow and be guided to become successful and achieve their dreams,” Labana said.

With today’s event, teachers are grateful to get recognized and appreciated as the fundamental aspect in the lives of their students.

“We really thank our students [and the SSG] for making this possible, that we have the teachers’ day celebration in recognition of the efforts and hearts poured by our teachers to be of service to our students,” said Dr. Rose Ana Refuerzo, COBE Dean

The event was made possible through the Student Supreme Goverment, spearheaded by Vincent Dominic Dalut as the Project Head Organizer.
