After the first half of the Academic Year 2023 to 2024 ended, Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) – Main Campus officially commenced its resumption of classes for the second semester, January 22, with a Flag Raising Ceremony in front of the Administration Building Lobby.
The University President, key officials, faculty members, and non-teaching personnel attended the said ceremony as part of the opening of classes.
In his Welcome Message, University President Dr. Dennis C. De Paz highlighted that the opening of the second semester marks the start of a new chapter.
“It is with the warmest of hearts that welcome you, our faculty and staff, our students, and the entire EVSU family. This new educational adventure provides another set of meaningful challenges to shape our attitude as professionals and learners,” Dr. De Paz said.
He also added that the sincerest resolve and purest intent to accomplish target plans is the beginning of great things.
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) third-year student Nerwyn Jay B. Wales expressed in an interview the aspects that particularly excite him in the resumption of classes.
“It is the upcoming hands-on projects and laboratory work where I can apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios. Engaging in practical applications reinforces classroom learning and prepares me for the challenges I’ll face in the professional field,” he said.
Wales also said that he was passionate about embracing those opportunities and furthering his journey toward becoming a proficient and well-rounded civil engineer someday.
Meanwhile, Bachelor of Science in Architecture (BSArch) third-year student Charles Ivann C. Boleche stated that he was looking forward to a much easier way of learning this semester.
“I expect so many things like a series of events that will add spice to college life, and these events will eventually be a way for students to breathe and relax from academic pressure,” Boleche stressed.
He added that the last semester was a roller coaster ride that was full of ups and downs and was hoping that this semester would go according to what he had planned.
