The Philippine women’s doubles sepak takraw team capped a historic campaign with a silver medal at the 2026 Asian Games after reaching the gold-medal match against Vietnam at the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Gymnasium, September 29.
Jean Marie Sucalit and Abegail Sinogbuhan, with substitute Nelly Jay Salon, powered through the tournament to secure the Philippines’ first silver medal in women’s doubles sepak takraw at the Asian Games.
The Filipinas opened their campaign with wins over Japan and India before finishing second in their group after a loss to South Korea.
They bounced back in the semifinals, sweeping Laos, 15-12, 15-10, to book their place in the championship match.
The Filipinas fought Vietnam for the gold but ultimately fell, 8-15, 4-15, in the final.
Despite the result, their run marked a breakthrough for Philippine women’s sepak takraw on the Asian Games stage.
