Incoming EVSUnistas oriented in onboarding program; univ policies, services among tackled

With the aim of preparing first-year students for university life, Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) – Main Campus welcomed its incoming freshmen through a three-day Student Onboarding Program held from August 13 to 15 at the Miguel Romualdez Memorial Auditorium.

The university-wide orientation sought to familiarize students with EVSU’s academic and administrative processes, covering key offices, student services, and university policies outlined in the student handbook.

Freshmen were also introduced to their respective deans, department heads, and faculty members, while representatives from various university offices, including the Student Affairs and Services Office, Student Publications Office, Registrar’s Office, Medical and Dental Clinic, and Guidance Office, presented essential information to help students prepare for their academic journey.

On the first day, students from the College of Engineering (COE) and the College of Architecture and Allied Disciplines (CAAD) participated in the onboarding, followed by the College of Business and Entrepreneurship (COBE) and the College of Education (COED) on the second day, and the College of Technology (COT) and the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) on the third day.

Meanwhile, Rina Mercenes, a freshman Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship (BSE) student, said the onboarding gave them a clearer perspective of life in the university.

“The orientation was helpful. It gave us a clearer idea ha mga services na pwede namon ma-access ngan paano if college life didi ha EVSU,” Mercenes shared.

The onboarding program forms part of EVSU’s continuing efforts to ensure a smooth transition for new students and to foster a supportive academic environment from day one.
