TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte – Be it in public community channels or through private messages, EVSUnistas were quick on sharing their thoughts – and rightfully so – with regards to the school uniform implementation as announced by the Students Affairs and Services Office (SASO) on September 1.

The varying opinions come after SASO, through a Facebook publicity material released by the university’s official publication The Industrial Wheel, announced that they will be bringing back the wearing of school uniforms for continuing EVSUnistas starting tomorrow, September 2 which happens to be a Monday.

In the post, the Office also reminded the freshmen students to wear white T-shirt, polo, or blouse for the meantime while they await their uniform sets. “SASO also reminds that they will only allow the freshmen a six-month period to wear civilian clothing before the uniform policy is strictly enforced,” the post also reads.

This became an overnight topic for many as the students themselves expressed their frustrations and disappointment on the sudden policy shift, pointing out the lack of sufficient notice.

“Disappointed kay last time it was said na effective pa rin adto na memo tapos ma-update na lang prior. ‘Asan ang prior diyan na apot na man it update? It’s not professional. Though yes, understandable na hindi na-cooperate ang iba pero they should’ve at least informed three days before not a night before,” an EVSUnista who wished not to be named, expressed.

“How about an mga students na hagrayo ta’s waray pa makadara han ira uniform ha Tacloban? An mga waray makag-prepare kay diri man na-expect na sugad ka-sudden?” another EVSUnista shared to The Industrial Wheel.

“It would be totally okay na September magpa-uniform na, pero at least gin-announce a week prior or even ha timelines na ginpo-post hit mediums hit university, dapat naka-indicate didto when an first day han pagsulot han uniform,” she/he added.

“Suspension of classes an ak ginhuhulat, pero wearing of school uniform an ginhatag,” an EVSUnista said in a post, referring to the current weather in the Eastern Visayas region after it was placed under a ‘Red Rainfall Warning’ by PAGASA this morning.

“I actually was disappointed seeing the announcement as it was just abrupt. I also thought that the ‘no uniform policy’ was still effective, since ‘yun ‘yung sinabi ni Pres. Kyle sa’min,” an EVSUnista also shared.

“Mag-announce na man la kamo, apot na,” a netizen shared.

As of writing this article, the SASO has yet to issue any official statements addressing the growing concerns and complaints raised by the students.
