PICE EVSU-SC holds frosh orientation

To formally welcome and acquaint frosh Civil Engineering students with their engineering journey, a kick-starter orientation held by the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) – Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) Student Chapter took off Wednesday, September 21.

Said event, held at the Miguel Romualdez Auditorium, was conducted simultaneously with a general assembly anchored on the theme, “BRIDGING BONDS: Rebuilding the Broken Link to Face the Future”.

In his opening message, Engr. Ramon Lim, Dean of the College of Engineering, emphasized the importance and purpose of launching such event.

“Of course, since the freshmen are new to the college, we have to orient them and to give an overview of their coming endeavors as they journey towards the end of their Civil Engineering degree”, stated Engr. Lim.

Moreover, Dr. Diosdado Lesiguez, Head of the Civil Engineering Department, stressed out that team effort and involvement of the students is the utmost key in order to build towards the future.

“Rebuilding cannot be achieved if only the officers will work, it needs the participation of each one of you here present and the organization,”Dr. Lesiguez said.

Meanwhile, first year student Reymond D. Adlawan commended the overall conduct of the orientation as it had helped him gain insights that will guide him in his journey.

“We learned a lot especially, the articles and by laws and the upcoming events and activities that PICE established for us”, said Mr. Adlawan.

PICE EVSU-SC President Rebecca Centinaje, in her Closing Remarks, gave appreciation to the people behind the success of the said event.

“I am very thankful for the participants. Thank you also for coming here. Without you, this activity will not be a success”, said Centinaje.

During the program, PICE officers provided an overview of the events to be conducted in the calendar of events, including PICE Tutorials, CE Talks, and seminars & symposium on different CE specializations.
