Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Region 8 (LTFRB RO8) granted the consolidated appeal to enforce a makeshift fare hike for all public utility jeepneys (PUJs).

According to the agency, the minimum fare for traditional jeepneys is 11 pesos while for modernized jeepneys is 13 pesos for the first 4 kilometers.

Moreover, an additional fare of 1.50 pesos for traditional and non-air-conditioned modernized vehicles and 1.80 pesos for air-conditioned modernized vehicles will be charged for every succeeding kilometer.

Aside from approving the PUJs operators to post a notice for fare increase inside their vehicles, the LTFRB also reminded them to provide not less than a 20% discount to qualified senior citizens, students, and PWDs.

LTFRB Regional Director Gualberto N. Gualberto signed the notice that is already effective on July 1, 2022.

Furthermore, according to the agency, there is no indication of fare setback.
