
To extend recognition and appreciation to the faculty of Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) who have contributed to the development of the academic community, as well as bring these individuals together to establish fellowship amongst peers, the department heads, college deans, teaching, and non-teaching staff from the Main and external campuses attended the EVSUnista Awards and Fellowship Night 2023, August 25, Friday.
Held at the Leyte Academic Center, the celebration of achievements and camaraderie during the awards and fellowship night was in line with the university’s 19th Charter Anniversary.
University President Dr. Dennis C. De Paz emphasized that the event is a testament to the remarkable journey that built the institution to become stronger and better, where the community’s dedication and excellence have paved the road to where the university is now.
“As we celebrate this year’s
Charter Month, we reflect on the remarkable journey that led us to this moment of journey marked by dedication, collaboration, and relentless pursuit of excellence,” the University President said.
During the event, the university awarded its Best Employee, Best Educator, Best Researcher, and Best Extensionist who have been carefully and meticulously reviewed and evaluated by the Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) Committee headed by University President Dr. Dennis C. De Paz, as well as confer Special Awards to the staff of the university who have displayed exemplary performance and rendered their services to EVSU throughout their academic careers.
Vice President for Administration and Finance Dr. Benedicto T. Militante, Jr. said that the EVSUnista Awards acknowledge the invaluable contributions of the university’s personnel in building a better academic community for the university.
“We will acknowledge the invaluable contributions of our champions in their respective practices for embodying the hope and commitment needed to build a better EVSU”, said the Vice President.
Vice President for Research & Development, and Extension Services Dr. Analyn C. Españo, Professor Ferdinand T. Abocejo, Professor Shirley M. Siozon, and Mrs. Melissa T. Riños have been recognized as Best Educator, Best Researcher, Best Extensionist, and Best Employee of the year respectively.
Attendees of the gathering are dressed in the costumes of Hollywood’s most recognizable movies and series as characters from Star Wars, Harry Potter, The Avengers, Pirates of the Caribbean, Barbie, Disney, and James Bond came alive through the ‘costume play’ of the different colleges, campuses and the non-teaching personnel.
Performances were also witnessed as they showcased their talents with Hollywood-themed displays of dance numbers, reenactments, and vocal performances as well as fashion shows from selected members of the faculty, where the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) was hailed as Best Presenter.
Events are still to be looked forward to during the university’s 19th Charter Anniversary Celebration as the State of the University Address and the Grand Coronation of Mr. and Ms. EVSU 2023 will be held next week Tuesday, August 29 as well as the Pasalamat: Bands Night & Foam Party on Thursday, August 31.
