Univ marks promising start as Academic Year kicks off

In a marked step towards another year of in-person learning, Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) officially starts Academic Year 2023 to 2024, Tuesday, August 22 amidst the celebration of the 19th Charter Anniversary.

The university’s administration, represented by Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Lydia M. Morante, in place of University President Dr. Dennis C. De Paz who is on an official travel, faculty members, and non-teaching staff formally welcomed the students through a short program held during the flag raising ceremony.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Lydia M. Morante highlighted that the opening of class for Academic Year 2023-2024 is evidence of the unwavering commitment of students, realizing their full abilities in achieving their pursuit of knowledge.

“This ceremony not only symbolizes the start of the new academic year, but also represents a fresh beginning full of hope, opportunities, and growth.”, Dr. Morante said.

Meanwhile, amidst commencement of the Supreme Student Government (SSG) – Federation of Student Government (FSG) Organizational Fair in line with the university’s Charter Anniversary Celebration, teaching staff from select colleges conducted classes and orientation as a confirmation of the first day of the academic year.

Bianca Mae Calimoso, a freshman from Bachelor of Science in Statistic (BS Stat), expressed her enthusiasm and excitement during her first day of class, along with the upcoming events including organizational booth activities.

“Sugad ngayan kadamo estudyante and sugad karisyo it EVSU basta mayda sugad na event”, she expressed.

Meanwhile, Ronalyn Laguna, a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) student, shared the adversities she experienced as a freshman student in the university.

“Para ha akon nakakaenjoy bisan mapaso kanina, dire ak maaram gihap pasikot sikot hini nga university kay damo tawo malipong ha ulo”, Laguna stressed.
