CAS kicks off College Days

In the spirit of students’ unity despite differences in each respective program’s features, the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) officially commenced its three-day celebration of College Days at the university Open Field, on September 21.

Among organizations present at the event were the Chemistry Society (ChemSoc), the Kapisanan ng mga Estudyanteng Maka Wika (KEMWa), the Junior Philippine Statistical Association (JiPSA), the Society of Environmental Science Students (SESS), the EVSU Association of Students in Economics (EASE), the Society of Pure and Applied Mathematics (SPAM), and the English Language Society (ELS).

According to CAS faculty Prof. Mark Lester A. Yu, the essence of celebrating CAS Days is to promote unity among students in the college.

“The spirit of the celebration is to settle differences, where the fundamental recipes are it’s students and teachers, while the condiments are friendship, competition, and sportsmanship,” Prof. Yu said.

Moreover, CAS Sports Coordinator, Prof. John Ray Ylanan further emphasized that the celebration of the CAS Days is not about rivalry and competition but rather promotes sportsmanship and camaraderie, on during his Welcome Message.

“Let’s not forget the real essence of CAS Days which is sportsmanship and camaraderie,” Prof. Ylanan said.

Signifying the message of peace, friendship, tolerance, and hope among the seven organizations across programs in the college, a torch was lighted as the highlight of the said event.

Moreover, candidates on the search for Mr. and Ms. CAS were introduced as the faces of each organization in the college during the said event.

Furthermore, the event continued with CAS Talas – A Quiz Bee Competition, and concluded with the Amazing Race.

The celebration will continue onwards with literary competitions on September 22, to be followed by the Mr. and Ms. CAS on September 23.CAS kicks off College Days
