Beat the heat no more. With the strike of global warming where humanity is situated in a literal hot seat, would you rather face the scorching heat and beat it?
As the calendar lands from March to May, the Philippines, as a tropical country, brings the hottest temperature and people get hyped in the summer season flocking to beaches and resorts and hopping through islands to enjoy their vacation under the sun. However, since July 2023, global temperatures shattered records and broke the average heat temperatures in the summer season. Scientists across the globe call it as ‘the rise of an era of global boiling.’
Summers in an era of global boiling
Scientists discovered that the world is experiencing hotter temperatures after the rise of industrialization. The ideal sunny and summer season has consistently shifted since July 2023’s uprise of global temperature, transforming the weather to extreme heat. In general, extreme heat are periods of two-to-three days temperatures which exceed to an average of 32 to 35 degree Celsius. Recently, the Philippines’ heat index struck above 42 degrees Celsius, alarming the people of the dangerous heat exhaustion.
In this regard, global boiling has significantly disrupted the summer celebration as the threat to heat exhaustion lingers with the season.
The irony of summer escape
The summer season basically calls for getaways and escapades, enjoying the landscape of islands where the sun meets the sea, and where the mountains kiss the sky. The peak of this season is supposed to be a vacation, not as a prison. Due to the extreme heat index where countless heat related illnesses threaten the people, summer escapes have really lived up to its literal convention as the heat could not be beaten because its wrath is a scorching heat you must evade. In fact, the Department of Health (DOH) advises the public to take precautions to stay cool and hydrated. Eventually, staying outdoor, under the sun, is not advisable.
In a season where the world is in an era of global boiling, I doubt you could ever spend the summer feeling as you prioritize yourself from the harm under the heat. Would you rather face the scorching heat and beat it? I doubt it.
