Preparations for the upcoming State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) Regional Meet 2023 are in full swing as athletes and coaches of Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) gear up for the prestigious event that will transpire on October 22-27 at Visayas State University, Baybay City, Leyte.

In the words of one of the EVSU men’s basketball players, “Teamwork lang at magtulungan sa loob ng court para makuha yung panalo— para maging proud yung university natin.” The player also expressed his gratitude to the University, particularly to the coaches who have been instrumental in preparing them for the upcoming event.

The coaches, who play a pivotal role in honing these talents, are leaving no room for complacency. They have meticulously crafted training sessions, instilled discipline, and provided unwavering support to their athletes.

Coach Lyndon Alberca of the EVSU Basketball Team stated their motivation and focus for the upcoming event, saying, “We are more focused now on the defense. Last time was a really big ‘no’ for us but at the same time, a motivation for all of us, a wake-up call to everybody. We tasted defeat so that is a motivation to all of my players to do well.”

As the SCUAA Regional Meet 2023 draws closer, the anticipation and excitement are building within EVSU. The athletes and coaches have their eyes set on victory, but they also understand the value of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and personal growth.

Badminton Team coach Mr. Gaby Hilvano stated that, despite having limited time and training facilities, they are putting in their best efforts to achieve their desired results.

“As coaches, this is a sacrifice on our part, but it’s driven by our passion for the game,” the coach emphasized.

With this strong determination coming from the athletes and coaches, EVSU is set to shine in the upcoming SCUAA Regional Meet 2023 towards athletic excellence.
