Colors. This most likely refers to a carnival-themed occasion where different shades and hues are showcased, but can also refer to the colors we put in our dreams.

As Eastern Visayas State University welcomes students with colorful and funfilled booths and activities prepared by the Supreme Student Government – Federation of Student Government (SSG-FSG) during the launching of Organizational Fair 2023, the university does not only colored the whole carnival-themed activity but also offered an avenue for every learner to start coloring their dreams as they embark a new academic journey by attending their first day of classes in their respective programs.

Several educators across colleges started their orientation for freshmen and continuing students by giving them a headstart on the semester. Moreover, as the freshmen feast with the vibrance of the university activity, they expressed their amusement of equally experiencing fun and knowledge on their first day of class.

Jedidah Incorporado, a junior from the Bachelor of Arts in English Language (BAEL) shared how her first day of class marks a memorable experience.

“First day of school is enjoyable. Kung kikitaon it students around the campus, they are having fun. Kay it imo nakakatapo na students, kung nakita ka ha ira na mga excited. Ikaw gihap natatapnan it ira excitement. (First day of school is enjoyable. As you observe the students around the campus, they are having fun. The students that you cross path with are excited, and I get excited too).” said Incorporado

Further, while the university simultaneously opens an equally big event, it does not waver in the pledge of the university to offer quality education to the students as it opens the door for students to embrace new knowledge as well as a motivation to color their dreams and goals in life.

Shazen Marj C. Barrantes, a freshman architecture student, expressed her anxious but interactive first-day experience in getting exposed to a new environment.

“Makulba, but happy gihap kay mayda ak nakasalamuha na iba na tawo. (Anxious, but still happy because I was able to interact with other people).” Barrantes expressed in an interview.

Despite the continuous festivity in the university, the classes did not waver and halt but rather pushed through into the path of a bright future. As the freshmen have different experiences on their first day in the university, they were able to witness colors in their eyes and put colors on their dreams.
