As the celebration of the 20th Charter Anniversary continues its Day 2, the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) Day, August 20, featured multiple activities, such as performance, literary, and talent competitions participated by the university’s different colleges and external campuses.
During the morning, a series of contests such as the Dagliang Talumpati, Pagsulat ng Sanaysay, and Poster Making Contest were held at the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) building, in line with this year’s Buwan ng Wika Celebration.
In addition, a musical play featuring OPM songs from The Juans were performed by the students coming from the Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education (BCAEd) program, a fulfillment of their mid-year class apprenticeship.
Meanwhile, competitors coming from the different colleges of the Main Campus paved their way to clinch victory in the Jingle Competition, and showcased their fashion capacity during the One EVSU Performing Arts Concierto held at the Miguel Romualdez Memorial Auditorium.
Jingle Competition
Meanwhile, the Ormoc Campus was hailed as the champion over the 10 competing groups during the Jingle Competition.
Rey Mark Pagalan, a member from the winning team stated their steps and challenges on how they did well and clinched victory during the contest.
“Actually, ‘yung experience namin is sa practice pa lang. Napakahirap, may mga struggles pero nage-enjoy kami tapos iniisip namin na dapat kakayanin namin kasi performers kami. And we’re not doing it just for ourselves. We are doing it for EVSU,” stated Pagalan.
Fashion Show Galore
Moreover, fashion models from the Bachelor of Industrial Technology, Major in Fashion Designing’s (BSIndTech)—’The Neo Vanguard’ showcased their styles as they ramp on stage wearing their designs.
Prof. Stefanie ‘Tipay’ Caintic, coordinator of the said group, gave the audience a brief overview on how the students held hand-in-hand to make every fashion show possible.
“Those are student pieces from our annual fashion show that we do every May. It is part of a subject that teaches them how to produce a fashion show. All of those creations were designed by the students, constructed by the students, and the models are also the students,” she said.
One EVSU Performing Arts Concierto
Furthermore, the Samleyaw Performing Arts Group and the EVSU Chorale showcased their performances together with the teaching and non-teaching personnel of both the main and external campuses, leaving the audience in awe during their performances.
The event concluded with the awarding of the competition’s winners, beginning with the third-placer in the Jingle Competition, EVSU Dulag Campus, followed by the second-placer, the College of Technology (COT), and the champion, EVSU Ormoc Campus.
