Faculty members engaged directly with University President Dr. Dennis C. de Paz and key administrators to voice their concerns and seek resolutions during the HARAMPANG: Meeting with the President on Tuesday, February 18, at the Miguel Romualdez Memorial Auditorium.

The event served as a forum for educators to collaboratively address challenges in their profession, engaging in discussions and sharing suggestions to resolve pressing university concerns.

University President de Paz emphasized the importance of open communication between faculty and administration to foster mutual understanding.

“Pare-pareho lang po tayo. That’s why I made a talk to all of you because I don’t want na tayo-tayo ay may hinanakit at galit. Let’s be open and discuss things. That’s the good way na magka-intindihan tayo,” he stated.

The president also provided updates on the SMART University Project and other campus developments.

One major concern raised was the administration’s response to the implementation of SMART classrooms. Dr. de Paz explained that online classes remain an approved alternative learning modality, as permitted by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

“So, let’s remain that set-up. We requested anyway CHED to conduct classes online,” he remarked.

Moreover, he urged faculty members to remain patient as the construction of SMART classrooms continues, emphasizing that such projects take time to complete.

Concerns about slow internet connectivity were also discussed, to which the president responded that he is currently coordinating with various internet providers to secure a more stable connection on campus.

Meanwhile, similar forums for non-teaching personnel and student leaders are scheduled in the coming days as part of the university’s founding anniversary celebration.
