University President Dr. Dennis C. de Paz, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Lydia M. Morante, College of Education Dean Dr. Herminigildo S. Badion, faculty members, department heads, as well as the student-interns’ parents and guardians, welcomed them on their journey towards becoming full-pledged teachers.

Aspiring learning facilitators of Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) were officially declared as student-teachers interns during the Pinning and Candle Lighting Ceremony conducted by the College of Education (COEd) anchored on the theme ‘Kindling Pre-Service Teacher’s Pursuit of Quality Education’ at the Miguel Romualdez Memorial Auditorium, March 6.

In his Opening Remarks, Dr. Badion welcomed the students and expressed his appreciation to their hardwork.

“Always be guided by the values and qualities you have acquired and we uphold as EVSUnistas, and as part of the College of Education, success will surely be at your side,” he said.

In addition, Dr. Morante shared her Inspirational Message to the students wishing them success in their future teaching profession.

“So as you step in to the field of professional teaching, you may continue to shine brightly, igniting the flame of knowledge and inspiration in the hearts of all those you will touch, particularly, your students. Let EVSU join you as you embark on this journey together, lighting the way towards the future filled with promise and possibility,” the vice president said.

Furthermore, University President Dr. Dennis C. de Paz reminded the students that the institution is always by their side and is always willing to help them achieve their dreams of becoming an educator.

“We are here in full support – your teachers, the administrators, and your parents. Remember that you are making a difference every day in the lives of your students and pupils, no matter how big or small,” he expressed.

The ceremony proceeded with the highlight of the event, the pinning and lighting of candles which filled the students with excitement and sparked dedication to their chosen professions.

This was followed by the Pre-Service Teachers’ Pledge presided by Cholou T. Rabara, President of the Pre-Service Teachers Association succeeded by the singing of the batch song.

The event concluded with a closing message by Field Study and Student Teaching Department Head Prof. Julinito S. Sangutan who, once again, congratulated the student-teachers, followed by a photo opportunity with the faculty.
