Just like a surprise behind the curtain, EVSU’s Organizational Fair 2023 does not end with festivities and exciting activities because after exerting a series of efforts and ideas for an enchanting booth gimmicks and entertainments, are goals and purposes of an act of service.
Behind the carnival-themed organizational fair of the university, are the exulting and transformational leaders who are drivers of change who aim to build a stronger and better community. They are part of a fraction that is committed and dedicated to solving the pieces of the puzzle that can create a greater cause.
And to put the missing pieces in that puzzle is the ability to see adversity not as a difficult situation but as a place for growth that provides service for their fellow students in the long run.
According to Stephanie Escobido, the President of the Students’ Association of Geodetic Engineering (SAGE), the funds they would earn from their booth will contribute to the renovation of their classroom to provide a comfortable and engaging learning space for their fellow Geodetic Engineering students.
“Mayda kasi kami yana gin ko-conduct na project na amon renovation ha amon classroom kay medyo guba guba na ngan naturo talaga tas nahuhulos ngan nababahaan kami permi. Asya nga it SAGE, it first project nira nga ig ko-conduct is beautification hit amon classrooms ngahin office hit amon organization. (We are currently conducting a project to renovate our classroom because it is broken and leaking, and swamps our classroom),” said Escobido.
Because of this organizational fair, EVSUnistas discovered the stepping stone to take the initiative in creating an avenue of inspiration and string of hope for the dreamers to patch up what’s lacking that detracts from a whole. A person may wonder what makes an organization stand out from the seas of parallelism—and it will always land in the hands of leaders, reckoning their visions and skills.
John Nico Arcena from the Science Education Students Society (SciEdSS), expressed the reason for their organization’s goal to purchase and donate laboratory equipment to their class by underscoring that they wanted to promote a place of unending learning and opportunities for themselves and their fellow students.
“Acquiring and broadening knowledge needs equipment for laboratories, not only to add an experience but a channel to hone their capabilities and become their expertise someday,” Arcena explained.
To embody the character of a leader is to serve and create opportunities for their fellow students. They are warriors of change in the middle of a crisis. It is not only for publicity, but they have reasons, and these are why they keep on moving forward. From raising organization funds to proposing renovations on their classrooms, donations of equipments and materials that are helpful to accumulate knowledge for their laboratory subjects, give assistance to the students who are struggling, and for the betterment of the community.
The greatest thing that one can feel and see is the essence of building possibilities. The passion to lead is what suits them to be called leaders of EVSUnistas who are soldiers in war, building the nation not for self-interest but an array of improvement and courage to take a leap amidst adversities and create a greater cause out of it.
