To keep the spirit of the celebration alive, Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) – Main Campus carried on the second day of its 21st Charter Celebration with a full slate of activities that blended public service, community engagement, and student-centered festivities on Wednesday, August 28.

A Medical and Dental Fair, spearheaded by the University’s Medical and Dental Office, promoted holistic well-being among students and staff by offering accessible and preventive health services at the Miguel Romualdez Memorial Auditorium.

Students availed of free health services such as blood pressure checks, blood testing, and blood typing. Dental services, including oral consultations, tooth extractions, and cavity cleaning, are scheduled to begin on September 1.

The fair aimed to encourage the EVSU community to take a proactive role in managing their health, providing them with essential knowledge and linking them to broader healthcare networks.

Following the health fair, the University’s Legal Office, in partnership with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) – Leyte Chapter, launched Libre Serbisyo Legal, which offered faculty, staff, and community members free legal consultations, excluding cases involving monetary or property value.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services (VPRIES) marked its annual VPRIES Day, highlighting the university’s commitment to advancing research, innovation, and community engagement.

In the absence of VPRIES Dr. Danilo B. Pulma, who was attending other official commitments, Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) Dr. Benedicto T. Militante Jr. delivered the keynote address on behalf of the office.

In his message, Dr. Militante emphasized the vital role of innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and partnerships in addressing contemporary challenges.

“Every discovery, every outreach, every innovation contributes to a healthier planet. Let us commit today, be stronger, together as one family, One EVSU,” he said.

The gathering also recognized the contributions of faculty and staff in research, innovation, and extension services, underscoring their collective role in providing transformative knowledge and service to the university community.

Adding vibrancy to the day, a Pinagbenga Festival-inspired performance, based on Baguio’s famed “Festival of Flowers,” took place at the Open Field, energizing the crowd with colorful dances and cultural storytelling.

Meanwhile, Shaira Pontillas, a first-year Bachelor of Physical Education (BPED) student and one of the performers, shared her insights from the experience.

“My experience at a dancing festival was unforgettable. It was fun and filled with energy, and I learned that festivals are more than just dancing they tell stories and connect people,” shared Pontillas.

The 21st Charter Anniversary celebration continues with more activities in the coming days under the theme, “One EVSU 2.0: Stronger Together for Resiliency and Climate Action.”
