In celebration of its 20th Charter Anniversary, Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) kicked off the Supreme Student Government (SSG) and Organizations Booths/Fair on August 19, at the EVSU Open Field. The event, themed “Philippine Festivals,” was inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by University President Dr. Dennis de Paz.
Dr. de Paz expressed his gratitude to everyone involved, highlighting the collaborative effort that made the event possible. He encouraged attendees to explore the diverse booths and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
Aaron Jeruel, a student from the Bachelor of Science in Architecture (BSArch) program, shared his excitement about the event.
“As a student, so far so good. Eastern Visayas State University has let me experience excitement and fun during this Charter event,” he said.
However, not all students had a seamless experience. A student from the Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering (BSECE) expressed some disappointment.
“My experience so far has been a bit off. The event started late, and the emcee suddenly announced the singing of the national anthem, which caught us off guard since we were in a tent without knowing it had already begun. Despite this, the venue is spacious and comfortable, offering ample space for students and visitors”, they said.
EVSUnistas from various campuses were also present, including Trisha Mae from the Ormoc Campus., who shared her positive experience at the Main Campus.
“My experience here has been great. It’s wonderful not just to cover the event but also to enjoy it and meet new people. The SSG has been very accommodating, and this new experience will always be remembered,” she said.
The booth/fair will continue until the conclusion of the Charter Anniversary celebration on August 31.
